Beyond the frontiers of countries, what is left in us but language?
Presenting the demo of the first video performance by Beth Anna, "La Tour Epinière" (The Spinal Tower). In this video, we retrace the path of her languages, her countries, and their influences.
This demo is one of the dozen short films of different performers that will be projected side by side to accentuate contemporary multilingualism. Through each of these intimate portraits, "La Tour Epinière" traces the paths of lives that are written by the pen of linguistic diversity. The spectator is envelopped in the projections and the rustle of different languages telling thier stories. Each short film focuses on an individual's life experiences that form their linguistic composition: the core of verbal expression. The flag's of one's countries painted on the skin become an external and corporeal imprint, analog to the accompanying sound installation.
A collaboration with Jean Guillaume, director of Playtime Kids Recordings, Vincent Stephanescu, and Nicolas Morillon.
